Drew went to Pepperdine University, to major in Studio Art with an emphasis in Sculpture. Two years in, he realized he was doing more hair on campus then studying, so he enrolled in Vidal Sadsoon's Advanced Academy and decided to stay with the company after graduation. At just 21 years old, Drew was asked to transfer to Atlanta to begin his career.
After two years at as a top colorist at Vidal Sassoon, Drew became an educator for the company. During that time, he met his partner Matthew, who helped him follow his dream of owning his own salon. Matthew Gabrels and Drew DeLaney opened Velvet Salon in 2011. After almost 10 years of incredible success with a fully staffed salon they decided to slow things down and take a more one on one experience with there clientele. Velvet is now operating on a smaller scale within the Salon Loft family. Here Drew is excited to provide a clean, safe, sanitary, and controlled environment that is meticulously following the new health guidelines.
Drew has always had a mission to give his clients the Hollywood look they want without compromising the integrity of their hair. After all, hair is your permanent accessory. Drew believes everyone deserves to feel beautiful inside and out. When clients leave his chair, he always ensures they are truly happy with the service he provides them and there hair feels like Velvet.
