Dave is an Atlanta native and spent eight years in the US Navy bands - every girl's father's worst nightmare.... both musician AND sailor!
As a Veteran, punctuality and being prepared are nothing new to him. He plans extra time into every haircut to work on details, and to provide time for a shampoo service which he includes with every appointment.
His clients' favorite thing:
Dave takes detailed notes on your haircut. When you come back, he knows what your hair looked like the last time you were in his chair, and put it back the way it was, and if there are any adjustments to be made, such as "leave it longer" or "cut it a little shorter than you did the last time," his notes eliminate the guesswork involved.
Why is a shampoo included with every haircut?
Nobody likes going to work or home with tiny hairs falling everywhere. The shampoo service gets those hairs out of the way, and it also allows Dave to see and address hidden details that come to light after your hair has been washed.
The 6:00am Haircut
Haircuts on YOUR schedule. Should squeezing a haircut into a lunch hour or into some other part of the work day be the norm? What about losing time with your family because you were too busy to get the haircut in during the week?
Dave has owned and managed businesses and understands that a haircut should not take priority over one's career or family. This is why he starts cutting hair at 6:00 in the morning. Early risers can come in and get the haircut out of the way so that you can focus on what's more important in your life.
"When a leader stops learning, they must stop leading."
A self-proclaimed "Barber Nerd," Dave enjoys studying privately with Barbers across the country and around the world, and attends a large number of Barber Trade Shows. He has also studied internationally, most notably at The Old School Barber Academy just outside Amsterdam.
Leading the next generation of Barbers
When he is not actually behind the chair, Dave is an instructor at the ProFresh Barber Academy. Learning to be a Barber involves a 1500 hour class where students learn haircutting, the sciences behind it, and all parts of public safety and infection control.
Did you know that a Barber is not allowed to use the same razor blade n more than one person? Dave doesn't even use the same comb on more than one person without thorough cleaning and disinfection, and keeps dozens of combs on hand to make sure that every customer has fresh tools being used on their heads.
Outside of being a Barber
Dave has two grandchildren and loves spending time with them. He can often be spotted around Brookhaven and Chamblee trying the many restaurants and bars in town, and often attends Atlanta United matches. He is usually down at the end with all the rowdier fans... ask him about it when you are in his chair.
(Pro tip: you can bribe him with caffeine, especially a good espresso martini).
