Marissa has been a stylist for 9 years, specializing in Balayage, Color and Extensions. She attributes her success as a stylist to various mentors and training from salon educators at Bellami Hair Extensions, Bumble & Bumble, Hanzo, Nine Zero One Salon, Redken, Sam Villa, and She So Cap Hair Extensions. 

There is so much Marissa loves about the hair industry. She loves the challenges of learning new trends and techniques. She finds freedom in creating beautiful hair, and loves that every day is different. Beyond all of that, Marissa’s favorite part of each day is getting to know her clients and reminding them not only how beautiful they are on the outside, but that they are so beautiful on the inside. Making great hair is the job, but making people feel seen, known, and loved is the passion.

When you visit with Marissa, you will see her heart in everything, starting with the salon’s name- Tusk & Gold. The triangle you see and the word “Gold” are inspired by Marissa’s mission work in Nicaragua. For the last 5 years, she has taught in local hair salons there and volunteered with a ministry very dear to her heart, Los Rayos de Esperanza. Nicaragua has been a place that has allowed her passion for hair and her desire to serve others come alive. The desire to help someone see how beautiful they are knows no borders, no language, and no cultures- it is just love.

Most days you can find her creating “lived in” hair color, hand painting hair, adding extensions and creating dimensional blondes & brunettes, all the while laughing and telling stories with her clients.
